Work the 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance is moving forward right now.

The 9/11 National Memorial Trail is a 1,500+ mile route still being built and strengthened. From new construction in Pennsylvania counties to signage coordination across state lines and ongoing work with National Park Service partners, here's what the Alliance is actively focused on. Construction and design engineering are underway on a new trail segment in Somerset County, advancing the route toward Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville. The Alliance is coordinating with county officials and engineering partners on the corridor's final alignment.

A coordinated signage initiative is rolling out across the 23 Pennsylvania counties the trail crosses, giving the route a consistent visual identity from end to end. The Alliance is working with PennDOT and county partners on signage placement and approvals.

Maryland

Signage in Maryland is in permitting with state agencies, extending the trail's wayfinding system into the southern portion of the route. The Alliance is working through state approvals to bring the same signage program online in Maryland.
