25th Anniversary Cycling Challenge

Join us for the 25th Anniversary Cycling Challenge! This season-long event series features more than 30 organized bicycle rides across the Eastern United States from May through October 2026. Rides range from casual 10-mile loops to multi-day century tours, with events hosted by cycling clubs near or along the 9/11 National Memorial Trail (throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and North Carolina). How to join? 1) Register once for $100 (tax-deductible donation) 2) Choose to participate in as many rides as you like. Ride in one event, all events, or simply support with a donation. Plan your events, register via each event’s website, and prepare to ride! 3) Track your miles. Visit the 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance Booth at each event to check in, verify mileage, and ensure your progress is accurately recorded.​ 4) Earn milestone awards including commemorative coins, calendars, t-shirts, jerseys, and special prizes for top riders. All proceeds support the 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance and the continued development of the 1,500+ mile trail connecting the three 9/11 memorial sites.

Tour the September 11th National Memorial Trail with the Alliance – Commemorating 25 Years of Remembrance! The Alliance is honored to announce that the 2026 9/11 National Memorial Trail Bike Tour will take place from June 12 to July 11, 2026, in observance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. This historic journey offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on a quarter century of remembrance and American resilience. This meaningful journey will cover a distance of 1,250 miles over 29 days, traversing scenic landscapes and paying tribute to the memory of those affected by the events of September 11, 2001. Commencing in Arlington, Virginia, at the Pentagon Memorial on June 12, the tour will take cyclists clockwise following the 9/11 National Memorial Trail route, connecting the three memorial sites, before ultimately ending back in Arlington, Virginia, on July 11. The 2026 tour will also span July 4, coinciding with America’s 250th birthday, adding a profound layer of reflection on the nation’s history and resilience forged over centuries and reaffirmed in the aftermath of September 11, as cyclists pass through historic places such as Valley Forge, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C, and more. As we mark 25 years since 9/11, this commemorative Bike Tour stands as a living tribute—connecting past and present, honoring heroes' sacrifices, and reaffirming the importance of preserving the Trail for future generations. All proceeds and fundraising efforts will support the ongoing maintenance and development of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail, ensuring its significance endures for future generations.

A 12 Hour Challenge, cyclists, walkers, runners, all are welcome! The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance is thrilled to announce the Rodale Park 12 Hour Challenge at the Bob Rodale Cycling & Fitness Park in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. Join the Alliance on Saturday, June 27th, for a unique endurance event supporting the mission of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance. Participants are invited to challenge themselves by cycling, running, jogging, or walking laps on a beautiful, fully paved course in Rodale Park. The event will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on a 2-mile loop, 20 feet wide, offering a safe, scenic experience with a mix of sun and shade. The course will be clearly coned off to provide separate sections for cyclists and for runners, joggers, and walkers. Whether you complete a single lap or push for a personal best over 12 hours, participants may stop at any time to relax and refuel at the “Pit Stop” pavilion, where snacks, fluids, and lunch will be provided throughout the day. A dedicated 9/11 National Memorial Trail Alliance canopy will be on site to answer questions, share information, register Cycling Challenge participants, and track mileage accomplishments. All proceeds will support the ongoing development and promotion of the September 11th National Memorial Trail, which connects the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania, and the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia through a 1,500-mile multi-use trail. Come ride, run, or walk with purpose—finish one lap or go the distance—and honor the heroes of September 11, 2001.

The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance is honored to host its 2nd Annual Tour de Trail: NYC on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. This meaningful ride invites participants to come together in remembrance, honoring the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the enduring spirit of unity and resilience that followed. Please join us on Saturday, September 5, beginning at 9:00 a.m., for a 32-mile ride through New York City and surrounding areas along key portions of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. Cyclists will experience the beauty of Manhattan’s skyline, travel along the West Side Greenway (part of the 9/11 Trail), ride across the George Washington Bridge, and continue through Jersey City, visiting Ground Zero and significant 9/11 memorial sites along the way. The ride concludes with a ferry return. New this year, cyclists will begin the day with breakfast at the iconic O’Hara’s Restaurant & Pub, reserved exclusively for participants. The first 25 registrants will receive early access to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, while additional participants will be admitted following the ride. This ride is more than just a cycling event; it is a chance to come together in the spirit of remembrance and to honor heroes with every mile. By riding together, we continue the commitment to Never Forget and carry forward the resilience that defines our nation. All proceeds from the ride will support the Alliance’s efforts to create and maintain the September 11th National Memorial Trail, a 1,500-mile, multi-use trail connecting the three locations impacted by the events of 9/11. Join the Alliance for an unforgettable journey to the Flight 93 National Memorial! The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance is honored to host its 8th annual Tour de Trail: Flight 93 National Memorial event in 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. This commemorative bike ride travels through the scenic Laurel Highlands region of Pennsylvania and includes a meaningful loop through the grounds of the Flight 93 National Memorial. Please join the Alliance on Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm for a 24-mile ride beginning in Berlin, PA, traveling to the Flight 93 National Memorial, and back. Holding this ride on September 12 is quite significant. While September 11 is a day of remembrance and reflection, September 12 represents the day the nation came together in the aftermath and made the commitment to Never Forget. This ride is an opportunity to carry that spirit forward, honoring the courage and resilience that followed September 11 by moving together on the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. In recognition of the 25th anniversary, cyclists will be welcomed at the Flight 93 National Memorial by an interpretative ranger from the National Park Service, who will present "The Story of Flight 93." --- Register before July 4, 2026, to receive a 25th Anniversary edition 9/11 National Memorial Trail Challenge Coin --- All proceeds from the ride will support the Alliance's efforts to create and maintain a 1,500-mile, multi-use trail connecting the three locations impacted by the events of 9/11.

Six-day, 200+ mile cycling tour through south-central Pennsylvania, including two days of adventures in historic Gettysburg. Join the Alliance for the 3rd Annual Gettysburg Loop Tour, a six-day, 200+ mile journey through south-central Pennsylvania, with a two-day stop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, via the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. Beginning in Harrisburg, PA, on October 21, the cycling tour will move southwest following the 9/11 Trail alignment's loop to Gettysburg before ultimately ending back in Harrisburg on October 27. A significant highlight of the tour is a stay in Gettysburg, where participants can choose from a variety of routes and rides to explore the Gettysburg Battlefield and other local attractions. All proceeds from the ride will support the Trail's ongoing efforts to create and maintain a 1,500-mile, multi-use trail connecting the three locations impacted by the events of September 11, 2001.
