Matt Harris, Chair
After initially serving as an advisor to the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance, Matt was appointed to the board in September 2021, and began his tenure as Chair in June 2024. After earning his Master of Engineering from the University of York, he went on to become a High School Business Administrator and School Governor, and advised the Local Education Authority and vendors of national School Information Management Software in eLearning, online reporting and the digital classroom.
Matt immigrated to the United States in 2009 and began a career in software engineering, creating and leading teams at Twitter, UberATG and Color Health through scaling, reliability and security challenges. Matt is the co-author of four security patents.
Outside of work, Matt is a Certified Personal Trainer and run coach, as well as an Ultra Marathoner who can be found running and cycling on the roads and trails of Pittsburgh, New York and beyond.

Andy Hamilton, Vice Chair
Andy Hamilton serves as the Vice Chair to the Board of Directors of the September Eleventh National Memorial Trail Alliance. He also serves on the board of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. Formerly Hamilton served on the board of the East Coast Greenway Alliance and as the Mid-Atlantic Trail Coordinator for the East Coast Greenway. He has chaired the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Trail Advisory Committee and the Bucks County Bicycle Task Force served on the Delaware Greenways board and as a steering committee member of the Circuit Trails. He brings great dedication and passion for the vision of long range trails connecting community trails to create quality of life and economic development.
Hamilton's professional experience lies in landscape architecture and planning as well as trail development. He spent two decades assisting community revitalization at the regional and local level. His work included design and planning along with economic development projects for corridors, communities and regions.

Scott Yochum, Secretary
Scott Yochum was appointed to the board of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance in August 2022. As a senior investment advisor for PNC Institutional Asset Management, Scott is charged with maintaining strong relationships with clients. He regularly provides thought leadership, education and insights to clients regarding corporate, non-profit, charitable and retirement assets. He manages portfolios in accordance with applicable fiduciary standards and the client’s investment objectives.

Robert Russo, Treasurer
Robert was appointed to the board of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance in 2021. He brings decades of extensive experience in tax, estate, business, financial and income tax planning to the Alliance. Russo has a master’s of business administration in finance and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Seton Hall University. Russo has been associated with The Koenig Group since 1982 and a certified public accountant since 1993. Additionally, a registered general securities representative since 1998 and an AICPA personal financial specialist since 1999.
He obtained his New Jersey Life Insurance license in 2005 as well as the Certified Financial Planner Designation in 2015. Russo is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Tax Preparers. Russo previously served as Treasurer and member of the Board of Trustees of the East Coast Greenway Alliance from 2010 to 2019.

David Brickley, President Emeritus
David Brickley is the founder and president emeritus of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance. He conceived the 9/11 Trail while serving as director of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Under his leadership from 1998 to 2002, the state was awarded the national gold medal award for best managed state park system in America. Brickley previously served as an elected member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1976 through 1998. He was the legislative sponsor, co-founder and chairman of the Virginia Railway Express, Virginia’s commuter rail system, and authored legislation creating Leesylvania State Park.
Brickley has served on numerous conservation and trail organizations. For the East Coast Greenway Alliance he served as an officer, trustee, and chair of the Virginia State Committee. He purchased a 16-mile abandoned railroad corridor in King George County, Virginia, to protect it from development. As president of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail Alliance, he has made the rail-trail a part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. The Rails-To-Trails Conservancy named Brickley as one of its top 25 Rail-Trail Champions.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University and George Mason University School of Law, Brickley served in the U.S. Air Force with a tour of duty in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star. He later served as the desk officer for the Arabian Peninsula with the Defense Intelligence Agency. When not advocating for trails or practicing law, Brickley is an avid hiker and national speaker on trail and conservation issues. He currently resides in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Thomas Baxter joined the board of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance in July 2022 after previously serving as the Alliance President. Tom's duties include community outreach engagement with elected and municipal leaders within the multi-state network.

Deborah Borza
Deborah Borza is a past treasurer of the Families of Flight 93 and a past vice president and current board member of the Friends of Flight 93, two organizations that worked to establish the Flight 93 National Memorial. Borza's daughter, Deora Frances Bodley, was the youngest female passenger on board Flight 93.
She retired in 2006 from Copley Press, where she was a help desk analyst for 28 years. She raised her two daughters Deora and Murial in San Diego, CA and participates in transformational work in leadership, communication, and other areas of personal growth and development. Borza renewed her love of cycling after 30 years and biked as part of a scouting expedition for the 9/11 Trail route from the Flight 93 National Memorial to Rockwood, PA. She currently resides in Long Beach, CA.

Eric Brenner
Eric Brenner recently stepped down after five years as the chair of the Maryland Bike/Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Over the course of his career he has worked for six governors in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, serving both political parties. He was the founding director of the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office, which was recognized as a “best practice” by the National Governors Association. Prior to that his work focused on the creation and implementation of public policy in human services, health care, community revitalization, budgeting, energy, corrections, transportation, and financial services regulation. Brenner previously served as the director of executive management for the Council of Governors’ Policy Advisors and as deputy insurance commissioner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
His biking travels include an around-the-world trip with his wife, Gail Melson, in 1986-87, the 2015 inaugural ride of the September 11 National Memorial Trail from the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, PA to New York City, and a 23 day ride of the full 9/11 Trail in 2018. Tim Brown
Tim Brown is a retired, decorated 20-year New York City firefighter, a survivor of the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, a first responder to the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and a veteran of the New York Urban Search & Rescue Task Force team that responded to the 1995 terrorist attack on the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City. Brown lost 93 friends on September 11th, including his two best friends.
Brown's last assignment with FDNY was Rescue Co. 3 in the Bronx. He served several years in Mayor Giuliani’s Office of Emergency Management. He spent two years on special detail to the federal government, serving as a special assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Services during the Anthrax terrorist attacks in 2001-2002 as a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He earned top secret government clearance while helping to build command and control into the department.
In preserving the memory of those lost on 9/11 at Ground Zero, Brown is a sought-after commentator on 9/11, grief, post-traumatic stress, resilience and hope. He appears in two documentaries, Forever Changed, 9/11 in Remembrance and Rebirth. Rebirth received rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival, was purchased by the Showtime Television Channel for distribution, and won a prestigious Peabody Award in 2012.
Brown volunteers with many charitable organizations including the National September 11th Memorial and Museum, Carry the Load, and Ride2Recovery, and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Brad Clemenson
Brad Clemenson coordinates Lift Johnstown, an informal coalition that promotes community collaboration and volunteerism, and the Stonycreek- Quemahoning Initiative, which develops and promotes recreation in the biggest watershed feeding into Johnstown, PA. Clemenson also develops and supports sustainable community and recreation development as a board member of Conemaugh Valley Conservancy, the Cambria County Conservation and Recreation Authority, the Steeples Project and Johnstown Area Heritage Association.
He previously served on the board of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, where he led the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape to support sustainable community, conservation and recreation efforts in a four-county region. He also served on the boards of the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers, and the Allegheny Trail Alliance.
Clemenson holds degrees from Bucknell and American University. He enjoys bicycling, kayaking, hiking, and has a special interest in the region’s history. He is married and has a daughter.

Chuck Flink
Charles A. "Chuck" Flink is president of Greenways Inc., a national and international greenway and open space consulting firm based in Durham, N.C. He is widely regarded as a leading greenway planner, having completed comprehensive greenway and open space plans for more than 250 communities within 37 states as well as for clients in nine countries overseas. Flink has written three books on greenways, most recently The Greenway Imperative: Connecting Communities and Landscapes for a Sustainable Future (University of Florida Press, 2020).
In 2003, Flink was elected a fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects in recognition of his extraordinary work and achievement in landscape architecture. He is the 2006 outstanding slumnus for the College of Design at NC State University. He serves on the College of Design Leaders Council and chairs the Board of Visitors at NC State University. For three consecutive terms he chaired the board for American Trails in Washington, D.C., and served five consecutive terms board chair for the East Coast Greenway Alliance, which works to develop a 3,000-mile urban trail from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida.

Adrienne Fors
With more 15 years of public relations experience, Adrienne Fors is the Sr. Community Relations Manager for WM in the Greater Mid-Atlantic Region. Adrienne’s involvement in the community has elevated conservation initiatives, environmental education and trail awareness throughout the Lehigh Valley and Slate Belt.
Adrienne holds a BA in Business Management from East Stroudsburg University and has a certification from Oxford University in Leading Sustainable Corporations.

Adrienne is actively involved with the Northern Tier Trail development led by Northampton County in partnership with Plainfield Township. Brett Hollern spent the first 21 years of his professional career working on the development, management and improvement of the Great Allegheny Passage. In 2019, Brett went to work for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council as program manager for trails and recreation for Western Pennsylvania. In addition to serving on the 9/11 Trail's board, he also chairs the board of the Allegheny Trail Alliance, continuing his work with the Great Allegheny Passage.
Hollern graduated from Penn State University with a BS in recreation and park management. Residing in State College with his wife, Christine, his children Kate and Ben, and their two dogs, you can find him in Penn’s Woods mountain biking, hiking, and skiing.

Karl King
Karl joined the board of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance in March 2012. An avid cyclist, he is a charter member and vice-president of Rails to Trails of Central Pennsylvania and the owner and operator of the Lower Trail. He is a co-founder of the Tour de ‘Toona professional bicycling stage race.
Previously King worked in heritage conservation efforts, spending 15 years managing capital development projects from public involvement and planning through construction administration. His professional skills include coordination of planning and design services, public involvement and technical assistance, capital project management, grant writing and administration, business plan development and tourism promotion.

Russell was born in Montreal, Canada. He grew up in Randolph Township, NJ, and he owned R.J. Nee Taxi Service in Dover. His love for the great outdoors prompted him to pursue a career in the Morris County Park Commission, where he serves as assistant superintendent for trails, special projects, and emergency operations.
He serves as advisor to the Liberty Water Gap Trail and the Lenape Trail Committee,

Amy Pettigrew
Amy Pettigrew, CMP, DES, MPA, is an Event Manager for the NFL Players Association. In prior roles, she worked for the National Governors Association, the United States Tennis Association, The Walt Disney Company, Special Olympics North America, International Economic Development Council, The Catholic University of America, and Teachers College, Columbia University.
Amy has a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism management from NC State. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Association of Meeting Professionals and is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). Amy previously served on the Board of Directors for North Carolina State University’s Alumni Association and was recognized with their 2015 outstanding young alumna award. She has also received recognitions by the Connect Association (40 Under 40), Smart Meetings (Industry Leader), and PCMA (Visionary Awards–Community Advocate of the Year finalist).

Reporting to the chief medical officer and departmental chair, Read oversees 1,700+ clinical and research employees. His top priorities have been improving patient access to Dana-Farber and improving the patient’s overall experience.

Jane Sheffield
Jane Sheffield has worked in community development for over thirty years. After earning a BA in economics and psychology from Duke University and a masters in landscape architecture and community design policy from NC State University School of Design, Sheffield launched a small business in Durham, N.C., drafting and passing local legislation, creating local historic district commissions and downtown historic districts, facilitating certified historic rehabilitations on commercial structures, initiating streetscape improvements, and securing National Register of Historic Places designations. She relocated to Pennsylvania to serve as Altoona’s first Main Street Manager, then to New Hampshire to direct its statewide historic preservation organization.
The Allegheny Ridge Heritage Area welcomed Sheffield back in 1995 as executive director of the Allegheny Ridge Corporation, where she has spearheaded initiatives including public/private partnerships to create development and organizational sustainability, regional large landscape projects including the Main Line Canal Greenway™, and curriculum development and education outreach.
Sheffield serves as president of Heritage PA, a statewide association of twelve heritage areas. She chairs the Greater Altoona Economic Development Corporation, is vice chair of the Hollidaysburg Planning Commission, president of Explore Altoona, trustee of The Alleghenies Tourism Council, and president of Holy Trinity’s Episcopal Church Women and a member of the church vestry.

Stephen Tanzilli
Stephen Tanzilli, J.D. is dean of the Rowland School of Business at Point Park University and co-founder of the Sports, Arts & Entertainment program at Point Park. As chair named of the Department of Management, he worked to establish the first cooperative educational partnership for a school of business in the region, re-structured the school of business core curriculum, met assessment requirements, developed numerous study abroad programs and created new innovative educational programs.
Prior to joining Point Park University, Tanzilli ran his own sports talent agency, Sports Legends Group, a full-service marketing, finance and law firm for professional athletes and celebrities. He has worked with players from the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as other high-profile clients. His background also includes 12 years of experience with 141 Worldwide Sports and Entertainment, where clients included Coca-Cola, 84 Lumber, Sunoco, TOPPS, ESPN, and Kraft Foods. In addition, Tanzilli has worked with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Johnston Steel Baseball Club, International Sports Marketing, and Communicator Sports Marketing. He served as director of marketing for the Pittsburgh Triathlon for 7 years.

Daniel Wille
Daniel Wille is an attorney in Pittsburgh, Pa. After attending law school at the University of Pittsburgh, Wille served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gustave Diamond in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He then worked as an attorney with Buchanan Ingersoll, and then Reed Smith LLP for 23 years, before moving to Littler Mendelson, P.C.
Now semi-retired, Wille is able to return to bicycling and other interests. He looks forward to assisting the Alliance in making the trail east of the Alleghenies a reality. He has been married to his wife, Vickie, for over 36 years and has three daughters.
