Alliance President Jeff McCauley Receives Governor’s Keystone Award
Alliance President Jeff McCauley received a Governor’s Keystone Award from Governor Josh Shapiro at Pennsylvania’s third annual State Dinner in Harrisburg, PA, on September 23. The recognition celebrated Jeff’s dedication to the 9/11 National Memorial Trail, particularly his work to bring Pennsylvania’s statewide Trail signage project to completion.
As of September 11, 2026, more than 2,200 signs mark all 920 miles of the Trail across Pennsylvania—a historic achievement. Jeff worked closely with state agencies, local communities, and project partners to help move this effort forward, making the route easier to follow and strengthening its connection to the people and places it honors.
Throughout the evening, Jeff and Alliance Board Chair Matt Harris connected with fellow honorees, state leaders, and dedicated Trail partners, including DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn and National Park Service Superintendent Stephen Clark, whose leadership includes Flight 93 National Memorial. Both have been long supporters of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail and key partners in bringing Pennsylvania’s signage project to completion.
The celebration came just weeks after Governor Shapiro joined the Alliance and project partners at Flight 93 National Memorial to unveil the final sign. Together, these milestones reflect the collaboration and persistence behind a project that will guide visitors through Pennsylvania for generations.
The Governor’s announcement also recognized Jeff and the Alliance's commitment to keeping the memory of September 11, 2001, alive and helping future generations understand its lasting significance. The completed signage brings that mission into view across Pennsylvania, inviting people to explore a living tribute that connects the three national memorial sites and honors the lives lost. Each sign helps carry those stories forward, including for those too young to remember that day.
The Alliance congratulates Jeff on this well-deserved honor and recognition of his dedication to the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. We extend heartfelt thanks to Governor Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro for hosting a wonderful evening, recognizing the Alliance’s work, and supporting the mission to honor the lives lost and educate future generations.
