2024 Tour de Trail: Pentagon Memorial
The September 11th National Memorial Trail is thrilled to host our second annual Tour de Trail: Pentagon, a wonderful walk through the heart of Northern Virginia, featuring a loop to the grounds of the Pentagon National Memorial. Please join us on Saturday, October 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm for a three-mile walk beginning in Arlington, VA to the Pentagon National Memorial, and back.
In addition to a welcome speaker from the National Park Service, speakers at the Pentagon Memorial will include Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA), a co-sponsor of the Trail’s legislation H.R. 2278, Retired U.S. Army Colonel, Robert Dannemiller, who was working in the Pentagon on 9/11/01, and former Executive Director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, Jim Laychak, leading efforts to advance the realization of the new Visitor Education Center.
Enjoy breakfast at the Water Park, featuring an assortment of muffins, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, and coffee. When the group returns to the Water Park participants are welcome to purchase additional food/beverages from the wide variety of vendors. Free parking and Metro access are both available. Please note: To encourage the education of the younger generation on the history of 9/11, children under the age of 13 can participate for free. To receive the 100% discounted event cost for children please reach out to the organization via email.
All proceeds from the walk will support the Alliance's efforts to create and maintain a 1,500-mile, multi-use trail connecting the three locations impacted by the events of 9/11.
